Acceptance test: when should it be specified?

Q: Acceptance test: when should it be specified?

A: Up front, because specifying an acceptance test up front is a great idea, because it adds no extra work, and because it creates great value. Therefore, specifying an acceptance test up front should always be done.
Since in Agile environments we move QA up front, the team should ask the customer for the customer's acceptance criteria. The team should ask the customer, "How will we know that we've created a product that you have in mind?" This way the testers might be able to come up with a necessary acceptance test, even before the developers start writing code.
